Wrestling

Wrestling at Madison High School is a highly disciplined and competitive winter sport that builds strength, control, and mental resilience. Under the leadership of Coach Plasencia, student-athletes are trained in the fundamentals of takedowns, escapes, reversals, and pins. Open to all grade levels, the program encourages physical conditioning, personal growth, and sportsmanship through structured practices and competitive meets across various weight classes.

Madison has a proud tradition in wrestling, with several athletes capturing CIF Weight Class Championships. Notable champions include James Carpenter (130 lbs, 1968), Jim Steiger (106 lbs, 1969), Randy Evertsen (168 lbs, 1970), and Ernest Bingelli (heavyweight, 1974). With a legacy of league titles and CIF success, the wrestling program continues to offer a challenging and rewarding path for student-athletes who are ready to put in the work and compete with pride.
